The second release in Channel Classics' project to record Elgar's complete songs for voice and piano features the eloquent British soprano Amanda Roocroft and British baritone Konrad Jarnot, one of the most promising Lied singers of our time, performing a number of unknown Elgar songs. Partnered by the project's initiator, the Dutch pianist Reinild Mees, they are among today's finest champions of this rarely-heard song repertoire.

Though distinctly mixed in quality, the songs are finely done here...[Konrad Jarnot's] striking baritone is always neatly and eloquently employed. Amanda Roocroft brings an equally persuasive approach to both text and notes, and accompanist Reinild Mees is excellent throughout.
