The Concert / Adrian Prabava/Bela Drahos

Notes & Reviews:

The fifth film score released in 2009 by Israeli-born composer Armand Amar, Concert features 19 musical pieces interspersed with dialogue from Radu Mihaileanu's award-winning French film. The album includes the musical piece central to the movie's plot in its entirety, Tchaikovsky's Concerto for Violin in D Major OP 35, alongside classical works from Mahler, Mozart, and Khachaturian. The soundtrack to the charming tale of a down-on-his-luck conductor's attempts to reunite his former Bolshoi Orchestra group of musicians, and includes contributions from Romany collective Kek Lang, Parisian jazz sextet Les Yeux Noirs, and the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. ~ Jon O'Brien
