The sumptuous music of Sergei Lyapunov may come as a surprise as his music is not well known in the West. Belonging to the half-generation between Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov, his music is in a traditional vein. Lyapunov has been described as the last great representative of Russian late Romanticism.
