Chamber music breaks exciting new ground with these three works by leading American composers. Aaron Jay Kernis's beautiful Two Awakenings and a Double Lullaby is a touching song cycle for the unusual combination of soprano, violin, guitar and piano. In the rhythmically agile Aged Tunes, Jorge Liderman contrasts the sonorities of guitar and string quartet. Steven Mackey's Measures of Turbulence, a remarkably subtle soundscape despite its title, explores the gonglike multiphonic sounds of acoustic and electric guitars. Each of these new pieces was written for the artists who perform them here.

A Great Contribution To Music!
Although I can't say I'm a fan of solo Soprano singing, maybe you are.
It may be a required taste for many. But nonetheless if you're into that kinda thing I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
What I REALLY like about this album is the fifth track. That is an Awesome song man. Very creative, and
I'd like to say a new style of music that just opens the mind to new possibilites. Alright, enough hippie talk.
Seriously though, as a musician who's heard a very wide variety of music. This is definitely new and inspires me
to learn from it, and incorporate into my music certain elements of it. The combination of electric and acoustic instruments playing in
a very interesting timing separate from each other in various ways, but still unified as whole thought, along with
odd harmonies and artificial harmonics make it seem as though you're a character in a Twilight Zone film.
If a piece of music can inspire,make you feel, or remind you of a time or place, if not all three, it's done it's job I believe.
And that's what this is for. BUY IT! If you don't like the singing, at least by the track "Measures of Turbulence" on mp3.
