This recording was made In the Hamburg Music Hall in March 1950, and then appeared in the American label Royale with false information regarding the interpreters (pseudonyms). It is a surprisingly "modern" interpretation by Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt, far from the bombastic romanticism of so many of his contemporaries, but it also with the courage not to restrict the soloists in their expressiveness. It suffers from none of the anemia than is found in some historically accurate performances.Notes & Reviews:
