Few composers have achieved such success with a single work as Holst with 'The Planets'. Orchestral sections are finely balanced; there's a touch of breathing from the flutes, but nothing annoying, and the audience is very quiet. A new journey through the planets
This live performance CD of the London Philharmonic Orchestra & Choir bring to life Holst: The Planets work. The music creates a unique trip through the solar system. You can hear the wood of the bows tapping the strings, feel the velocity of the planets as they orbit in space and hear the harps and bells that will evoke emotions over you. While I have listened to other orchestrations of this work that presented a more sonically pleasing composition, this CD has lots of energy and momentum that make it worth listening to.
