Notes & Reviews:

A collection of 29 carols, dating from the 15th to the 20th centuries, are performed by the Magdalen College Choir. Magdalen College, Oxford, played an important part in the Victorian revival of the celebration of Christmas with the singing of carols: a Fellow of Magdalen, J.R. Bloxam, is recorded to have held a musical entertainment for the Magdalen choristers on Christmas Eve in 1840 or 1841, and this subsequently became a tradition.
