Reviews

Wonderful Collection of Elizabethan and Renaissance Music
I really enjoyed this collection of Elizabethan and Renaissance music by the 3-person group Pentagruel. Anna Wierodís beautiful voice is accompanied by an assortment of lutes, flutes, and recorders in a variety of expressive songs of the 15th and 16th centuries. The songs range from bawdy to gentle; I was not as fond of the rowdier songs, which didnít seem to translate very well, but the gentler melodies were wonderful. A few of the pieces are entirely instrumental and highlight the fantastic capabilities of recorder accompanied by lute. Iíd recommend this album for anyone looking for something a little different but easy to appreciate.
