Carl Davis is a musician in the American tradition; born in New York, he composes, conducts, and does anything else that may be necessary to put his music across. Early appointments include Assistant Conductor with the New York City Opera, and three tours with the Robert Shaw Chorale. The prizes he has received during his career are as diverse as they are numerous. Moreover, he has written for and worked with such acclaimed and varied performers as Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Laurence Olivier, Sir John Gielgud, Ned Sherrin, John Wells, Billy Connolly, and many more.

"I am delighted by the performances, and the company wasn’t kidding about the sound, either. Carl Davis, a native of New York but a resident of London, seems to have a flair for dance music, for he paces the ballet pieces judiciously without ever sounding as if he is merely dispatching an assignment or trying to blow us away... Davis’s conducting yields little to Beecham’s here, and throughout the CD, the orchestra is a vivid presence. I recommend the complete ballets and the opera but, if you’re willing to settle for the “hits,” I doubt that you can do any better." -Fanfare
