Notes & Reviews:

American Record Guide, September/October 2013
He has actually been conductor of the Stavanger orchestra since early 1995. This is his first recorded venture into Handel's English oratorios. At first swallow, Biondi seems to have made a fine debut in all this. He has assembled an international cast of singers. His star, of course, is Gilchrist, whose earnest portrayal of the tormented Jephtha combines dramatic feeling with outstanding diction. Ainsley he has one of the best Jephthas on records. The BIS set comes with full text. Tightly packed into two discs, it has also been marketed at two-discs-for-the-price-of-one, which would make it one of the top bargains in the Handel discography.
