A love for lyricism, a dash of wit, and what he has called "an irresistible urge" to connect with the Classical music heritage have always been easily identifiable hallmarks of Lawrence Dillon's music. The nine works on this recording, spanning 25 years, trace these ongoing characteristics through the lens of violin-centric music. This is the debut recording of Danielle Belen, 2008 Grand Prize Winner of the Sphinx Competition.

Another transcription closes out the program. The Voice (2008) is an arrangement of an aria from a 2001 opera, text included: beautiful and expressive, it makes one wonder what the opera is like.

All told, the scraps that make up this program give the impression of a serious and talented composer... Ms Belen is a fine player, and Mr Dillon's work fits her well.
