Notes & Reviews:

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Montreal-based Ganymède vocal ensemble, ATMA presents O vos Omnes, a CD of sacred and secular a cappella works for male choir. The composers on this CD range from the Renaissance, to the Romantic era, and through modern times. The compositions takes listeners on an inner musical journey and include selections by Victoria, Schubert, Lauridsen, and Brian Schmidt among others. The Ganymède ensemble was founded in 1991 by Yvan Sabourin, its current artistic director. Its mission is to perform the classic repertoire for male choir with the goal of making this music better known. The ensemble is made up primarily of members of the gay community and offers an alternative image of what this community can be.
