Notes & Reviews:
The archbishopric of Nidaros (now Trondheim, Norway) had one of the most extensive chant repertoires of medieval Europe. This recording contains 2 of the 3 sequences that by decree were sung there. Schola Solensis is a choir devoted to medieval chant. It was founded in the fall of 1995 in conjunction with the consecration of Sola Ruin Church. The choir's artistic director is cantor Halvor J. Osttveit, who has studied at St. Olaf College & the Benedictine Monastery at Solesmes.
