Both of these works - commissioned for the RAI National Symphony Orchestra and conducted by two rising stars of the orchestral podium - offer an evocative and meaningful image of the mature poetics of Luis de Pablo, internationally recognized as one of the greatest craftsmen and leading figures in the renewal of Spanish music from the 1950s onwards. The range and depth of the openness, and of the interests that characterize the poetics, do not make schematic definitions easy, among other reasons because his highly elevated mastery is characterized by an unusual incompatibility with any tendency that could be provided with a "label." José Luis García del Busto rightly defines Luis de Pablo's musical personality as "uniformly cohesive and yet plural."
