The Legacy of Edwin Franko Goldman honors one of America's prominent band composers of the early 20th century, having composed over 150 works, including many marches. The U.S. Army Field Band is proud to present this first, in a series of recordings honor the lives and music of individuals who made significant contributions to the band medium. The Legacy of Edwin Franko Goldman features his compositions, pieces he commissioned, and a performance of "Suite Francais" composed by Darius Milhaud specifically for the Goldman Band Library. Featured on this album is Goldman's well-known march, "On the Mall," among other great pieces by Goldman, Peter Mennin, Paul Creston's "Celebration Overture," and an arrangement of Bach's "Fantasia in G Major."
