Notes & Reviews:

Ben van Oosten is among today's best-known organ virtuosos. His complete recordings of the organ works of Marcel Dupré, Louis Vierne, and Charles-Marie Widor are nothing short of legendary. It is not surprising that his invitation for a portrait of the grand Stahlhut/Jann organ in Luxembourg's Dudelange resulted in a "Festival of French Organ Music." This full CD program extending over almost eighty minutes captures a fascinating performance on a historical instrument of supreme tonal beauty. The organ in St. Martin's Church in Dudelange is a genuine European. Built more than a hundred years ago by Georg and Eduard Stahlhut and restored by Thomas Jann, this instrument currently enables the stylistically correct performance of the German, French, and English literature of the romantic symphonic era.
