Notes & Reviews:
The United States Marine Band has been part of the events that have shaped our national heritage for more than two centuries. This album, Live in Concert, is a representation of what would be heard at a typical United States Marine Band concert. The album contains many great pieces including: "Moorside March from A Moorside Suite," "The Corsair Overture, Op. 21," Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Folk Song Suite," Charles Ives's "Postlude in F;" and marches such as, "Entry of the Gladiators," "The Circus Bee," and "Nobles of the Mystic Shrine," to name a few. Conductors on the album include Colonel Timothy W. Foley, Frederick Fennell, Gunther Schuller and James Sinclair. Whether performing at the White House, in public concerts, or on recordings such as this, the music of the Marine Band is the music of America.
