Album Summary

>Lehár, Franz : Frasquita, operetta in 3 acts (revised as opera)
Conductor Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

For Franz Lehár 1919 was a productive and most highly inspired year during which he worked on three operettas: Die blaue Mazur, Die gelbe Jacke and Frasquita. He completed the piano reduction for Frasquita already in November 1920, and in 1922 it was premiered at the Theater an der Wien. Contemporary reviewers spoke of the refinement of the orchestration in this "most through-composed operetta of more recent times" and certified that Lehár, "among the operetta composers of our days, has no equals in the spinning out and linking of melodic threads."
