American Record Guide, September / October 2012
Choirmasters, take heed. Huxley is a composer who has never forgotten that sacred music must, first and foremost, serve the primary purpose of enhancing worship rather than showing off one's compositional chops or brilliant choir. All of this is music that you can use - material that will convey sacred sentiment and nostalgia (an important worship component) to your congregations, leaving them spiritually inspired and satisfied. Some of it will give your choirs a decent workout, but all of it will rest easy on parishioners' ears while stimulating their souls. I urge you to give this man's music a try.
