Notes & Reviews:

The Swiss composer Fritz Brun was born in 1878. He studied at the Cologne Conservatory and settled in Berlin, teaching Prince George of Prussia. He returned to Switzerland in 1903 and settled in Bern where he became conductor of the Bern Municipal Orchestra and leader of the two choral societies. He retired in 1941 to devote all his efforts to composing. Brun died in 1959.

American Record Guide, July / August 2012
Both performances and sound are excellent. Adriano's interpretations balance Brun's emotional and cerebral facets, thus making the music more approachable. His program notes are also highly informative. The Swiss musicologist Willi Schuh described Brun's music as "knotty and reserved at first hearing". True enough, but it's worth the effort.
