Notes & Reviews:

Sir John Barbirolli was born in London of Italian and French parentage. He was an exceptional musician and is remembered as elegant in his artistic choices as simple and forthright in his everyday behavior and his relationship with other musicians. He was a performer in excellence of Edward Elgar's symphonic works which have been recorded and released on disc scores of times.

Our new CD is featuring the rare recordings of the 3 most popular ones which Sir John Barbirolli carried out in the mid-fifties with the Halle Orchestra. The English conductor was able to lead the Manchester based orchestra to greatness and an interpretative quality which had never been achieved again.
