The sun, the moon, the stars and the planets, the universe beyond them... .composers have always been fascinated by their seductive power. Our newest explorations will be from Berkeley-based Composer-DJ Mason Bates in a world premiere about transmissions from outer space and "Cells Planets" by Erica Lloyd of Little Grey Girlfriend in a new arrangement especially for Chanticleer. Fantastic early works will join music of 20th century composers. Come with us... out of this world!

The first nine tracks, recorded in concert, retain the audience applause and have the benefit of capturing performing energy. The four studio recordings are not appreciably better sonically. If you're not familiar with the sound of Chanticleer, it may take a moment to get used to the male sopranos, but the sheer vocal skill of these singers is amazing. The review copy came without any notes or texts.
