Notes & Reviews:

This amazing Beecham/Furtwängler release contains works from two concerts that Furtwängler was to have conducted at the Royal Festival Hall, London, in January 1955. Sadly, he passed away in November 1954 and Sir Thomas Beecham conducted the two concerts with the repertoire as arranged, in memory of their friendship and as an affectionate tribute to the great German conductor. The two has been friends since the 1920s, each playing host when visiting the other's country. The source material comes from off-the air recordings of these live performances, and is absolutely unique!
