Notes & Reviews:
Sony Classical is proud to announce the release of Baroque Conversations, the debut album from the visionary and internationally acclaimed pianist and conductor, David Greilsammer. Baroque Conversations forms a meeting point between twelve solo-piano works by twelve different Baroque and contemporary composers that explore the artist's passion for contrasting musical worlds. "Nothing is more moving and meaningful to me than allowing the encounter of two worlds that have never met," states Greilsammer. Full of unexpected transitions, his journey through eras and styles tracks the hidden connections between pianistic forms from the 16th century to the present day.
Israeli-born and educated at New York's Julliard School, David Greilsammer's audacious approach to music has gained him international acclaim since his concert debut at Lincoln Center in 2004. His guest residency with the Geneva Chamber Orchestra at Paris' prestigious La Gaîté Lyrique and his position as artistic director of the Suedama Ensemble in New York reflect his interest in creating ground-breaking projects. His own recital programs frequently juxtapose works from past and present and this new disc presents a visionary pianist at his most characteristic and most daring.
American Record Guide, November/December 2012
The notes are thorough and make for some really interesting reading, and the sound leaves nothing to be desired. This is a great disc to dip into every so often. It will definitely make you think, and it will make you appreciate the artistry of Greilsammer and his creative choices.
