Notes & Reviews:

We're going Big in 2012! Almost incredible: between 1959 and the end of the following decade, Herbert von Karajan recorded 82 CDs worth of orchestral and choral music. And this was arguably his "best" period, when he achieved the perfect balance between discipline and authority in his work.

... It's all there, 82 CDs of the original LPs in their original couplings, in their original cover-art, arranged in tour snug compartments a brief repertoire overview is attached.

on top of the CDs, there's the book: 200+ pages, containing three newly commissioned articles, one by Karajan discographer JurgStenzl; a portrait of Karajan the man by a journalist who was there, Klaus Geitel; and an extended interview with Thomas Bradis, who was concert master of the Berlinern Philharmoniker from 1962 to 1983 - and who has lots of tales to tell. In addition, a Karajan timeline, a tracklist with full recording details, a discography of Karajan's 1960s opera recordings, and many photos of the maestro at work.

On the top of the book, five facsimile recording protocols, revealing what was going on when and where from some of the most famous recordings.
