Stone Records is delighted to announce its latest release, a CD of Australian art songs performed by a brilliant Australian-based recital duo. Soprano Lisa Harper-Brown is a favorite of the opera-going audience in Sydney, and David Wickham is one of the country's most sought-after accompanists. The repertoire will be new to a lot of listeners, although the style is familiar, being informed by the recognizable sound of 20th-century English song. All of the five composers featured are well-known Australian musicians, and between them they have established a new cultural identity: Australian art song. With detailed notes provided by the accompanist, and full texts of the songs, this disc provides an excellent introduction to a largely uncharted area of classical music.
