The March 11th, 2011 earthquake off the coast of Japan and the tsunami obliterated the region of Japan,Tohoku. Masaaki Suzuki writes this introduction to the CD, 'It has been compiled in commemoration of the large number of people who lost their lives, and in the hope that the music will offer consolation to those who have suffered bereavement, help to heal their hurt, and give them the strength to rebuild the country for the next generation.'This compact disc is sold to benefit Tohoku Help, a effort to relieve the people of the Tohoku region. Thanks to the Sendai Christian Alliance, and the musicians performing donating their royalties and BIS Records contributing the same amount. It is comprised of arias from Bach Collegium Japans cycle of the complete church cantatas, as well as instrumental movements and the motet Komm, Jesu, komm, and three organ chorales, recorded by Masaaki Suzuki especially for this release.
