Genuin presents the debut recording of tuba player Andreas Martin Hofmeir, prize winner of the prestigious German Music Competition. In cooperation with the German Music Council, he presents witty, stimulating works by Jörg Duda, Gisbert Näther and Kjell Roikjer - all of them world premiere recordings.

I have long known of the Capriccio by Kjell Roikjer (1901-99), and now I know that it presents the tuba soloist with formidable challenges of technique. Hofmeir, a very impressive player with a solid and often singing tone quality, handles the challenges with seeming ease. Fine readings by the orchestras.
