Friedrich Cerha: Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra; Impulse for Orchestra / Martin Grubinger

Notes & Reviews:

Last year celebrated the 85th birthday of Austrian composer Friedrich Cerha, best known for his orchestra cycle "Spiegel" and the completion of the third act of Alban Berg's Lulu. This new record combines two orchestral pieces from recent years, both played by one of the finest orchestras in the world - the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Pierre Boulez and Peter Eötvös. The demanding solo part of the Konzert for Percussion & Orchestra is played by young percussion star Martin Grubinger.
