Notes & Reviews:
The outstanding oboist Yeon-Hee Kwak pays tribute to three twentieth-century composers and gives the recording premiere of the orchestral version of the Concertino for Oboe and Orchestra by Nikos Skalkottas. The Inventions with a Postlude for Oboe and Cello by the Finnish composer Kalevi Aho form welcome encores.
American Record Guide, September / October 2012
Kwak is a talented musician, clearly capable of communicating the music. I enjoy the sensitivity she and David Pia have to each other in Aho's piece, and I think her performance of the Strauss ranks among the greats.
