Though never lacking in original ideas, composers like Bach often recycled material from their own previous works into new works, and these harpsichord concertos are no exception. BWV 1052 and 1053 are taken from Bach's cantatas, wile 1057 and 1058 come from Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 and the A minor Violin Concerto, respectively. Featuring first-class playing from Igor Kipnis and accompanied by London Strings under Sir Neville Marriner, this set is a highly desirable performance of indispensable keyboard literature.
