Album Remarks & Appraisals:
The Palm Court Orchestra was founded in Sydney in 1976 and these albums, recorded 1977-1979, have never been released outside Australia. These compilations are unique to Dal Segno. From hotel lobbies to The Danson soirees, these recordings really evoke the style and finesse of the wonderful Belle Epoque era from around 1910-1025. Their vast repertoire in this genre includes ragtime, English and Continental waltzes, tunes from musical comedy, those cheeky, raggy arrangements of Tin Pan Alley songs and well known light classics such as those composed by Elgar, Dvorak, Rubinstein, and Greig among others.
