Notes & Reviews:

Many have yearningly awaited the continuation of this series! As already on the previous Vol. 3, Wallfisch has sought out another set of large-scope concertos in overture form. The distinguishing characteristic of these concerts en overture is that the violin comes into the foreground in the fast segment of the overture as well as in most of the ensuing movements, in order to concertize with the rest of the orchestra or to lead the second part of a dance soloistically.

American Record Guide, November/December 2012
To the two examples of this highly personal idiom that were given us in Vol. 3 of the series, we now get three more, scored for violin with an orchestra of strings (often with oboes playing colla parte) and continuo. Telemann's mercurial mastery of the two "foreign" idioms is fascinating, though it seems to me that his imagination is particularly excited in the dance movements, which are full of clever harmonic and melodic twists.

Gramophone Magazine, Awards Issue 2012
It's clear that Elizabeth Wallfisch and the Orfeo Baroque Orchestra have worked closely together to produce lively, finely integrated performances...Even so, I could imagine that a few more violins would produce textures with greater depth and variety. Nevertheless, the disc can be thoroughly recommended: appealing music, performed with real expertise and understanding.
