These two young musicians have won numerous awards, ranging from the prize of the Concours Rostropovich for cellist Norbert Anger to the first prize and audience prize of the Steinway Piano Competition for Nicolai Gerassimez. They became acquainted as prize winners of the German Music Competition and discovered their shared love of chamber music. As the Duo Anger-Gerassimez, they show the colorful variety of the cello and piano on their debut CD.

The gang gets back together for the transcription of Schumann's horn piece, played with alternating whisper and shout. Finally comes the high point of the program - a feisty, virtuoso interpretation of Astor Piazzolla's big tango, played with involvement and a freedom that the composer would probably enjoy. Altogether, except for the Brahms, this is a fine release.
