Opera singer René Kollo does not restrict himself to only tenor roles in Richard Wagner's opera repertoire. An extensive catalogue of LPs and CDs, including many award-winning recordings, show that Kollo was the most active German tenor of his generation. He was twice awarded title of Kammersänger - in Munich and Berlin - and the Großer Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Grand Service Order of the German Federal Republic). Of Kollo, Herbert von Karajan said, "You are the tenor I've been waiting for these past 40 years".
