Notes & Reviews:

For thirty years Georg Ratzinger, the brother of the current Pope, gave the world famous boys' choir known as the Regensburger Domspatzen a special distinction. He was the one who extended the choir's repertoire significantly to include secular music composed by some of the great masters of musical history. Our compilation seeks to be an appreciation of this area of Ratzinger's efforts.

American Record Guide, March / April 2013
This is an excellent survey of short secular choral pieces by a broad range of (mostly) German composers from the Renaissance to the late romantic, capped with a few very nice arrangements of well-known folksongs. The composers represented are Hassler, Lassus, Lully, Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Brahms, and Rheinberger. All are beautifully performed. Sound quality is adequate.
