This new release by Eight Strings is virtuosic, inventive and diverse. Present by Ondrej Kukal, extends far beyond the limits of any piece for cello and violin. The featured piece is the Sonata for Violin and Violoncello by Maurice Ravel in dedication of Claude Debussy. Valeria Nasushkina and Mikael Samsonov are Laureates of the prestigious "Gaetano Zinetti" International Competition, First Prize winners of the "Marco Fiorindo" International Competition in Torino and the Absolute Winners of the 7th "Cittá di Padova Prize" International Competition 2009.

All of this adds up to another imaginative program by Eight Strings. They are a remarkable duo that works together with great unanimity, blends their sounds like one instrument, and plays the most complicated rhythmic relationships as if they were utterly simple. This varied program is handled in an effortless way that concentrates on the emotional meaning of the music. Furthermore, the sound is clear but resonant, recorded at just the right distance for the ears to be satisfied and in a space that allows for beauty and clarity.
