Poised at the aft edge of the Romantic era and inculcated to a varied set of influences, French composer Albert Roussel was ideally placed to develop a very unique musical style. In the piano music here presented, celebrated pianist Emanuele Torquati gives voice to Roussel's particular blend of rationality and feeling, his tendency to exploration of tradition and testing of boundaries, his impressionist roots and sweepingly dark chromatic branches. One of the only recordings of the complete piano works.
