Notes & Reviews:

Violinist Robert Murray is acclaimed for his brilliant technique and musical insight as a concert violinist. He is concertmaster of the Amici della Musica Chamber Orchestra and the Chicago Chamber Orchestra as well as performing with the Nashville Symphony String Quartet.

Audio
These [Rubinstein] Sonatas are really lovely... Robert Murray's violin playing [is] highly musical, and Daniel Graham's contributions on the piano full of energy, reflecting Rubinstein's own masterful pianism... The two [Saint-Sadns] sonatas [are] graciously Romantic music... [Murray and Jane Abbott-Kirk are] a good team, working extremely well together.

Fanfare
Saint-Sadns' [sonatas]... provide an ideal opportunity for one to refresh one's soul... to my surprise, Heifetz plays the music [Sonata 1] with a bit more reserve and at slower tempos... [Murray's] greater vigor helps to offset the occasional sweetness that is inherent in Saint-Sadns...

Chattanooga Times
...divine [Telemann] pieces . . . are a sheer delight. . . these works... combine Baroque counterpoint and galant melody, Italian forms and French ornamentation... Violinist Murray... has a fluent grasp of technique and . . . a firm, secure tone. His performances are exhilarating...

American Record Guide, January/February 2013
Murray recorded the Saint-Saens with Jane Abbott-Kirk while he was on the faculty of Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Their reading of the D minor is exuberant and audacious. The rhythm is odd for a while in the opening of II, but it eventually gets back on track, and he plays the fast sections towards the end faster than they should be played. There are a handful of 16th notes sacrificed here and there, but I love their reading for its audacity and its brilliance. This is the speed these musicians wanted for the piece, and they weren't about to let physical limitations get in their way!
