Notes & Reviews:
Birtwistle's 30-minute orchestral processional is one of the works that established his international reputation in the early 1970s.
It takes its name from a wood by Pieter Bruegel the elder which depicts an unremittingly grim procession.
Gramophone
Boulez and the BBC orchestra propound The Triumph of Time as masterfully and lovingly as if it were a favorite classic, and the production is so brilliant and full of atmosphere that the person in charge deserves a credit too.
