Conductor Ensembles ComposersNotes & Reviews:
Helicon Records presents another gem from the archives of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, which contain recordings predominantly taken from live performances in Tel Aviv's Mann Auditorium. Many of the label's releases are historic, and nearly all feature top rank soloists and conductors. This release, featuring the acclaimed Italian conductor Giuseppe Sinopoli, couples Beethoven's powerful Symphony No.3 with the elegant Valses nobles et sentimentales by Maurice Ravel, which are based on waltzes by Franz Schubert.
American Record Guide, November/December 2012
So, three Eroicas, rather different from each other, but each with a strong, consistent viewpoint.
Recording information: Mann Auditorium, Tel-Aviv (10/28/1993).
