Notes & Reviews:
The Trinity Carol Roll (Trinity College, Cambridge) is the earliest known source for the English polyphony carol. The thirteen works preserved therein include the patriotic "Agincourt" carol, celebrating Henry V's victory of the French 1415, and the most famous of all early English carols, "Ther is no rose." This performance offers a fresh take on mediaeval instrumentation and includes gothic harp, psaltry, plectrum lute, recorder, and ethereal gemshorn.
