Notes & Reviews:

For the past nine years, the Hanssler Classic/SWR co-production of the Musikalischer Advenskalender has been one of the most eagerly anticipated releases for the holiday season! Documenting the wealth and variety of choral and instrumental ensembles in Germany, this year brings the Best of the Muikalisher Adventskalender with the most perfect musical moments from the past nine years.

Gramophone Magazine, December 2012
The disc's cover looks like a reject from the design team at Clinton Cards...but hidden beneath it is a set of more-than-worthwhile performances (one for each day of Advent). Don't be put off.

American Record Guide, November/December 2013
All the pieces are performed by German ensembles or choirs in and around Stuttgart and Munich. They are high-quality recordings and high-caliber performances. Among the more classical selections, the performances are strong and carefully-conceived. Even the works outside the central-European musical tradition, such as the jazzy 'Winter Wonderland', are performed confidently. This would be a great addition to anyone's collection as a well-balanced compilation of Christmas music and background music for any seasonal party. A portion of this disc's sales revenues will go to benefit youth aid projects in southern Germany.
