Notes & Reviews:
Joseph Haydn was not only a prolific orchestral and chamber music writer, but also a fine vocal composer who produced many songs during his extensive career. In an artistically and commercially successful coupling of two great oratorios, Die Jahreszeiten and Die Schopfung are vintage Haydn. This release offers excellent performances in the firmly rooted German tradition, with soloists Helen Donath, Jurt Widmer and Adalbert Kraus.
