The Art of Instrumentation: Homage to Glenn Gould

Notes & Reviews:

American Record Guide, March / April 2013
This is really a double homage. Alexander Rakatov's Prelude and Fugue in D minor from the Well-Tempered Clavier is a perky, imaginative string transcription. Alexander Wustin brings Gidon Kremer's violin into his plaintive Three Part Invention, and Kremer also plays solo in Carl Vine's elegant transcription of the slow movement from the Harpsichord Concerto in F minor. The performances by the superb Kremerata Baltica are colorful. The recording, made in Latvia, is exceptionally vivid.
