Notes & Reviews:

This is Volume 3 of orchestral works by Miklos Rozsa. His Hungarian roots influenced the composer's musical voice, and his works dazzle with virtuosity. The BBC PO and Rumon Gamba play these works with the precision and passion they require. Jennifer Pike, an exclusive Chandos artist, joins them in the Violin Concerto.

BBC Music Magazine, Christmas 2012
Pike immediately evokes memories of Heifetz with her silver purity of sound and quicksilver agility, inflected by a narrow, medium-fast vibrato. What sets her apart, however, is the gentle cushioning of her lifted strokes, her enhanced dynamic range and radiantly seductive playing during the more lyrical episodes...her finest recording yet.

MusicWeb International, December 2012
This music is interesting and demanding of the listener but never off-putting. The playing requires and here receives virtuosity and a dazzling display of instrumental colouring. The soloist, Jennifer Pike - who is an exclusive artist to Chandos - plays a stunning concerto. We will surely hear much more from her.

American Record Guide, March / April 2013
Here's a superbly played and recorded program of three rich, vibrant, romantic mid-20th Century scores. The performance here simply makes the strongest possible case for the piece. Soloist Pike, Mr Gumba, and the BBC Philharmonic dig right in and give a firm, vibrant, committed performance. Chandos's reverberant acoustic serve the music well. II is more lyrical and melodically effusive, and the finale has plenty of vigor and snap. Gamba's firm tempos and the Philharmonic's warm, sumptuous string tone suit the music perfectly. It's a superb test of both the orchestra's virtuosity and expressive depth. Gamba and his players bring the same absolute commitment and concentration to this performance that they did to the other two works. This is Volume 3 of a Rozsa series Chandos is doing. I must order the other two.
