Notes & Reviews:

Baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau was one of the most famous interpreters of lieder in the 20th century. This disc includes rarely recorded French repertoire such as Faure's La Bonne Chanson, the Chansons Madecasses by Ravel and Le Baal Masque by Poulenc.

American Record Guide, May/June 2013
Fischer-Dieskau in lieder. With his supple and expressive voice, superb control of dynamics, and exquisite sculpting of text F-D sounds very comfortable in this music. The Berlin Philharmonic Soloists and Sawallisch perform impeccably. Wonderful as it is to hear F-D in this music and enamored. The remastered sound has an artificial and claustrophobic quality. Notes in German, English, and French. Texts available online.
