On this disc, a unique version of Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring is performed on solo piano. Bela Bartok was first introduced to this piece through the piano version in the 1920s, which greatly influenced his composing his technique. As proof of this statement, Stravinsky's piece is paired with Bartok's work for two pianos and percussion.

Their ensemble is impeccable and their interpretation has enough personal inflections to be unique. An effective performance can be made by the artists who simply follow all of the composer's directions. They are valid and do make the performance come alive. This one stands with the best, all four musicians interacting skillfully and always in service to the great music. The booklet notes are adequate and the recording quality is state of the art.
