Notes & Reviews:

French baritone Philippe Cantor first appeared interpreting ancient music but soon embarked on a career as a recitalist and opera singer. He won the City of Rennes Competition in 1992. His collaborator on this recording, pianist Sophie Rives, studied at the University of Michigan.

American Record Guide, May/June 2013
Overall this is lovely singing and is a fine place to start if you want to hear a baritone sing a whole program of Debussy. Rives's playing is magnificent. She captures the serene mood of 'Claire de Lune' perfectly and brings sure-fingered eloquence to expressing the rippling sea in 'La Mer Est Plus Belle" and 'L'Echelonnement des Haies'. The recorded sound is intimate.
