Notes & Reviews:
With 45 tracks, and over 2.5 hours of classical favorites, Classical 2013 is a double album featuring the best and most popular names in classical music from EMI and Virgin Classics. Among the many outstanding singers featured on this release are Diana Damrau, Joyuce DiDonato, Angela Gheorghiu and Philippe Jaroussky. There are also guest appearances by two of the world's leading opera stars, namely Jonas Kaufmann singing 'La fleur que tu m'avais jetee' from Carmen's Flower Songs, and Kathleen Ferrier in the beautiful 'Che faro senza Euridice?' from Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice.
Instrumentalist include violinists Renaud Capucon and Vilde Frang; guitaring Xuefei Yang; pianists Martha Argerich, HJ Lim, Alexandre Tharaud and Yundi; trumpeter Alison Balsom; the Elias String Quartet and the Artemis Quartet.
Also appearing on the album are a number of the world's greatest conductors, including Antonio Pappano with his Italian orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and Sir Simon Rattle with the Berliner Philharmoniker.
